Description
This is a giclee print available in various sizes. Available at 10 castle street Athlone N37H688 studio and gallery. Gerties Browne is a pub located in the center of Athlone just a minutes walk from the River Shannon. It dates back over a 1000 years initially acting as a resting point for those travelling west while also providing a place for their horse drawn carriages for the night. With its tongue and groove walls, pitch pine counters with great memorabilia creates a relaxed and very pleasant atmosphere.
this piece was painted with a palette knife and acrylic paints on primed canvas measuring 75cm x 60cm. Using a technique of layering and sanding, i wanted to create a building that has been painted numerous times over the years. The worn paths depicts the thousands of people that walked the streets of Athlone. This painting is available to view in the cellar bistro, originally known as hatters lane.
