Swimmers Jigsaw

Description

A Jigsaw Puzzle based on Carmel Rooney’s Swimmers print. Choose between 50 piece or 150 piece puzzle with frame included.

Swimmers:

This piece is painted in acrylics on 210gsm paper. Measurements are 12 x 9 inches or 30.48 cm x 22.86 cm. Using brushes and a variety of palette knives for texture I restricted my palette to 4 colours, blue, magenta, lemon and white. The eye is drawn to the female figure propelling herself in an upward motion from a charged frenzy whirlpool.  She was painted in magenta with a touch of cobalt. There is a continuous white line from her arms to her feet connecting her electric body. Her feet are molded like fish suggesting a theatrical magical figure emerging from the deep. To the right is a male swimmer, a frantic fugitive escaping the turbulence of time. He is of slim build swift and graceful. His cranium dissolves into the deep abyss. There is texture and vibrancy throughout this painting creating multidimensional space. An air of light, shadows and movement makes this painting extremely exciting. In the foreground are two supernatural shapes. One has an elongated neck, alien shaped head looking out to the viewer. Painted in a mix of ultramarines, cobalt and magenta these shapes emerge from the deep as if lost and dazed. The second is fish shape with an extraterrestrial head. Overall, it looks like a frenzy of lines, texture, space and movement. “From an empty space the shadows take shape, moments in line captured in time”.

 My prints are part of a series of limited edition using Giclée printing process. They are reproduced from original paintings numbered and signed on white archival paper. All prints are designed and printed in Ireland. Sold as prints or prints framed. This original piece is sold.
