Rasta Dance original painting acrylic on canvas
An original acrylic painting on canvas. It measures 50cm x 70cm, 100% cotton. My inspiration for this piece is a Rastafarian went running past my window in my studio/shop one November day. In Ireland in November the weather is very dismal, dull and rather depressing. For me this was a moment of dance and vibrancy amidst our dark winter. Out came my palette knife after priming my canvas previously, I started with black paint creating downward strokes. I could see the dreadlocks dancing so I added the feet. The center of the painting is a fish turned sideways, and there is also a stick person appearing from behind the dreadlocks looking at the viewer.{we are always being watched} I left the painting for a week. Two young children came in to my studio, one said their favorite colour was red and the other loved pink. I applied the red bringing this piece to life. I also had to use the pink. While the children watched with excitement this is the end result.
